To me he was Grandad Canada. I always thought of Grandad living in Whaletown enjoying his retirement and how happy he must’ve been in such a picturesque setting.
We were so fortunate to spend time with Grandad in England when he moved back here. I remember our family day trip to London and how excited he was to be with us all.
I remember as a child getting extremely excited on my birthday’s as he would always send Canadian Dollars and I used to think I was so rich, having a $50 note!
He had one of those personalities that could make you laugh with the smallest of things, little jokes, daft comments and silly faces.
I love you Grandad. I miss you and will never forget you.

I'll always remember Grandad's nicknames for us - 'mini moo' 'bill bean' 'dustbin lid'. He always brought strange gifts when he visited from Canada. He liked to tell the story of when he went to the village pub one day and congratulated an Ipswich Town player for their game and how he bought them a beer. He liked a joke and always had a smile on his face. I'll miss you.
